In case you don’t know: Each TV CARNAGE volume is hundreds of hours of exceptionally bad TV lovingly fused together into an hour plus; glorious cesspools of retardation. These are the compilations that have been featured and loved by VICE MAGAZINE, NME, SHARPEWORLD, FORT DRASIC, OK FLAVOR, DAILY CANDY (see CARNAGE KUDOS for more) and shown in festivals and porn theatres throughout North America, Europe and Japan.
I had the pleasure of catching Chris Mars’ show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery a while back. He has quickly become one of my all-time favorite painters.
Read more about Chris here (you may know him from drumming for The Replacements), pick up his book here and check out his upcoming show at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City, CA December 12, 2009 – January 2, 2010.
Designed with the Clayton Brothers collaborative spirit and tightly encapsulated within a Lucite box, the book and print portray what Rob and Christian refer to as the “abstract narrative”. Spanning cover to cover, Caught Being Good flows with full bleed, full color interior spreads of random studio shots of various works in progress. Throughout the book personal photos taken by Rob and Christian during their travels around the world seamlessly thread throughout unpublished and or unfinished paintings and personal images from the back room of their studio in California. Floret, the accompanying giclée is hand touched by the artists and printed on archival paper, individually numbered and framed.
